Michael Roberts, Ph.D., Principal
Mike Roberts completed his undergraduate degree in psychology at U.C. Berkeley and received his doctorate in clinical psychology from the University of Connecticut at Storrs in 1971. In the over 40 years Dr. Roberts has been active in the law enforcement field as a psychologist, he has made contributions to both psychology and law enforcement that have received national recognition. Specific contributions include: the co-design of the San Jose Model Field Training and Evaluation Program; the formulation of standards for psychological selection of law enforcement officers; instructing in a course for the major city police chiefs at the FBI Academy for almost 20 years; post-trauma debriefing programs for law enforcement officers starting in 1974; and research on the entry-level selection of police and other public safety officers.
These contributions have resulted in recognition by the law enforcement profession including awards from the International Association of Chiefs of Police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Dr. Roberts' efforts have also been recognized by the psychology profession in his election to Fellow status in Clinical Psychology by the American Psychological Association, and Board Certification in Clinical Psychology and Police and Public Safety Psychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology.
In addition to his involvement in JRA, Dr. Roberts is President of Law Enforcement Psychological Services, Inc. (LEPS). Through his firm he provides entry-level psychological screening of applicants for 70 agencies in 12 states for positions including police, fire, communications dispatch and corrections.
Ryan Roberts, J.D., Ph.D., Principal
Ryan Roberts worked for JRA as a research consultant beginning in 2013. In 2018 he was elevated to Principal. He is responsible for research, software development, and general business management of the company. In addition to his involvement in JRA, Ryan is a Partner with Law Enforcement Psychological Services, Inc. (LEPS). He is licensed to practice psychology in California, Oregon, Washington, New York, Virginia, and Washington, D.C.
Prior to his career as a clinical psychologist, Dr. Roberts graduated from the University of Michigan Law School and worked as a patent litigator in California. He completed his undergraduate education at MIT, earning a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering.
Holly Andersen, Office Manager
Holly has been the office manager for JRA since 2007.
Holly began her administrative career in 1989 as a word processor of Environmental Impact Reports for a large environmental group. Since then Holly has managed retail storefronts and run her own business, "ClaySavant".
Holly loves running the office efficiently and professionally, and working with JRA clients. She looks forward to being part of the continuing evolution of the company.
Karena Mahoney, Office Co-Manager
Karena has been the office coordinator for Johnson, Roberts, and Associates since 2011.
Drawing on her prior experience as a successful small business owner for twenty years, Karena has an enthusiastic and detail oriented approach to account management and client services. She is an avid learner of new technology, and is particularly adept at solving problems for customers on deadlines.
Ben Hood, Senior Programmer
Ben Hood has been responsible for JRA software development and maintenance for the last nine years. He has created nearly all of the programs that our company currently uses, and works closely with JRA staff to provide technical support to our clients.
Mr. Hood has more than thirty years of experience building custom software applications in a wide variety of programming languages and operating systems, and specializes in the design, architecture, and implementation of Web and Windows based business systems for both private and government agencies. He has an extensive history of working with law enforcement clientele, including building the Alameda County District Attorney's case management system and jail management systems.
Ben has a degree in Theoretical Physics from Sonoma State University.
